CATHastrophic Mediocrity

I haven’t had much problems with programming in college. As long as I am familiar with the paradigm and the syntax, the logic goes with it. But lately, I’ve been trying to learn a language I’m barely familiar with. I was on a hunt of someone who could possibly tutor me with this stuff, but I can’t find someone. I’m done with the basics. Duh! Someone out there! SOS!! Novice needs HELP!!

Questions:

• How can I attach and record an audio (mic) over a netstream object? Can I possibly do it without a Flash Media Server since extraction of data is on the client-side?
• After searching on forums, and attempts to do it on my own, I found out that SoundMixer.computeSpectrum() really does not work with Microphone.getMicrophone(). However, there were classes in AS3 that can extract and control the panning and amplitude of streamed audio. Is it possible to extract the same data from an audio input after being published and upon playing through a netstream object?
• I’m really done with accessing the microphone object and rerouting it to other sound devices, as well as extracting amplitude and sound properties of streamed audio, and visualization of this activity. However, I am apparently stucked on how to make both of this things work together?
• Flash CS4 to PHP : I am apparently trying to figure out how to pass values from Flash CS4 to server-side scripting language like PHP. Gone to a lot of tutorials really, and it doesn’t seem to work. Tried LoadVars() but it came with compatibility issues with AS3. Trying out another method (URLRequest.Method.POST|GET) doesn’t seem to work too…

It’s only the first month of the semester and yet, I have a lot to finish. Aja!! Anyway, about the PHILNITS exam result. I thought I would not stand a chance of passing any part of the exams. Thanks to the brain-draining accounting questions in the first session (I made a mess of it). Quite to my surprise, I passed the afternoon session which focused more on program design and development (databasing, networks, algorithms). I chose questions on C than on Java - I’m not really much into obect-oriented programming. The C programs we were made to trace were mathematical in nature. I’m not in anyway a fanatic of hard core programming, but I do appreciate logic and math. Kudos to the two guys who passed both morning and afternoon exams. After my thesis, I’d go into weeks of solitary confinement just to pass the morning removal this April 2009. Wish me luck. Hek3.

Anyway, I still have a lot of things to do.. And I thought I would make a personal run-down of skeds and commitments for this month. Wahahaah.. The heck of it all..

November 12 (Ellen’s Birthday) - PSITS emergency meeting, 5:00pm, Jacinto Ext.(Agenda: Tshirt downpayment and design)

November 13 (Thursday) - work on TCI articles, girl. And finalization of your deliverables (Thesis)

November 14 (Friday) - Meeting with deans (tentative). SITES meeting, 4:00pm, Headquarters (Agenda: Liquidation of Budget, Activities for 2nd Sem, Presentation this Nov.21), Submission of column, news, and feature articles to Ma’am Fe.

November 15 (Saturday) - COMELEC Drafting of Consti and By-Laws, 8:00am to 5:00pm, Bonifacio Campus

November 16 (Sunday) - Dates with important people. MY DAY-OFF!!! No Work!!

November 17 (Monday) - Career Orientation with BS Pharma and BSND, 4:00pm to 5:30pm, Father Selga Campus; Finalize TCI articles

November 18 (Tuesday) - Final editing of articles

November 19 (Wednesday) - Student General Assembly, present COMELEC plans, 4:00pm to 5:30pm, Bonifacio Campus.

November 21 (Friday) - Career Orientation with BS Nursing and BSCS, same venue and time, ITE Conference - Fr. Selga Campus, 4:00pm to 5:30pm, SITES and COMELEC Presentation

November 22 (Saturday) - PSITS Meeting (no finalized venue)

November 24 (Sunday) - Work on the Prototype GUI, algorithm and pseudocode, extensive review for MCITE Quiz Show

November 29 and 30 - PSITS Sportsfest - Budget Committee (tentative)

December 1 (Monday) - Mindanao Wide ICT Quiz Show, SM City Davao; ITE Nyt and Awarding Ceremonies (hopefully!!!!!)
